PauldMagician Becomes The HOS of Correct and Soundcity Radio

Paul Emoghene better known as PauldMagician has been appointed as the Head of Station at Group8 Limited station; Correct FM and Soundcity Radio in Enugu.  Paul revealed this to the public on Thursday when he took his social and disclosed that he has been promoted and relocated to Enugu, where he will be serving as the head of station at Correct FM and Soundcity Radio Enugu. It would be recalled that, on January 8, Radio Reporter NG reported that Paul resigned his appointment from Darling FM Owerri as the head of programme after 4 years of service.

Federal House of Representatives Consider Bill to ban Journalists without Media Degree:

The house of representatives is seeking to raise the minimum qualification for journalists in the country to bachelor’s degree or higher national diploma (HND) in journalism or other related courses. The proposal is contained in the Nigerian Press Council Amendment Bill 2019 sponsored by Francis Agbo, the lawmaker representing Ado/Ogbadigbo/Okpokwu federal constituency. The bill which has passed first reading and is slated for second reading seeks to amend some sections of the Nigerian Press Council Act Cap N128 LFN 2004. The bill provides that anyone seeking to practice journalism in Nigeria must “hold a first degree, Higher National Diploma certificate or its equivalence in Journalism, Media Art or Communication from any higher institution in Nigeria or elsewhere”. According to the bill, if an individual has a first degree in any other course, “he shall within five years obtain a postgraduate certificate in Journalism, Media Art, Communication or related field from any higher institu

LAGOS STATE PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AGENCY INAUGURATES RADIO LAGOS / EKO FM PLANNING COMMITTEE

The Director-General, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Fatai Onafowote, has appealed to Accounting Officers and service providers to collaborate with the Agency to enable it discharge its services effectively. The Italian radio and communication industry is in mourning. This morning, Friday 18 February , at the age of 73, Loriano Bessi , entrepreneur and editor of the Radio Associate Group (GRA) and owner of Media Hit , passed away . Originally from Terricciola , where he was born on January 19, 1949, in 1978, he founded Radio Valdera Uno in Ponsacco . 86 radio stations shut down in Afghanistan

As the rest of the world marked #WorldRadioDay on February 13, Afghanistan mourned the loss of as 86 radio stations which have halted operations over the past six months since the Taliban took control of the country. Radio in Afghanistan began in the era of the former Afghan King Amanullah Khan in 1926. The first radio station was named Radio Kabul and broadcast in Kabul. Although the media has technologically developed in a variety of ways, radio still remains one of the main sources of information in the country. “We have a lot of memories from the radio. There was a time when restrictions were imposed on listening to the radio. When we were listening to the radio, we would task one individual to keep a lookout; we were listening to it in secret,” said Mangal, a resident of Wardak, while speaking to Tolo News. Current financial and political issues are the main reasons for the collapse of the Afghan media and the recent political change following the fall of the republican government

Saudi Arabia launches its first news radio station

The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has launched the "Al-Ekhbariya Radio" station on Sunday, coinciding with World Radio Day, which falls on Feb. 13,2022 This is the first radio station of its kind in Saudi Arabia. The new radio station is a radio branch of the Al-Ekhbariya TV channel and can be heard on FM in the capital city of Riyadh (93.0 MHz), Jeddah (107.7 MHz) along the Red Sea coast, and Dammam (99.0 MHz) in the Eastern portion of the country, a step aimed at focusing on local specialized content. SBA’s CEO Mohammed Bin Fahd Al-Harithi said that this step comes within the framework of the authority's strategy towards distributing media discourse across all platforms and shifting towards specialized media to meet the different tastes of the society. — SPA .

The board and management of Authority 91.9 fm have officially suspended the Igbos Love themselves radio programme which is owned by Nze Mathias Ezeaku Ejiofo for blasphemy and burning the Holy Bible in a viral video. According to an official suspension letter dated 9th February, 2022 issued by Authority 91.9fm, the management stated that they received several complaints from listeners and customers who consider his behavior as a blasphemous act and vile disregard for their Christian belief/doctrines. Hence, the decision to indefinitely suspend the radio programme. In the same vein, the board and management of Authority Fm have also banned Mr. Onyedika Okocha, popularly known as Onyeze Jesus for indecent exposure (including bathing naked adults in a river), money rituals, propagation of superstitious fallacies and contravention of NBC Broadcast laws. 

Gold City 105.5 FM Gusau, Zamfara State

Benue Radio To Acquires New Transmitter, Cost N149.3m

The Benue State government has signed a contract worth N149.3 million with Knicks Engineering LTD for the procurement of a 20 kilowatts FM radio transmitter for Radio Benue, Makurdi. The permanent secretary,  Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Beatrice Tsavmbu, while signing the contract agreement on behalf of the ministry said the new transmitter has the capacity to capture the whole state and its environs. The director general of Radio Benue, Dr Charles Iornumbe who commended  Governor Samuel Ortom for the gesture, said it had been the desire of the governor  to install a new transmitter for the station which he said would reposition it for better performance. He acknowledged the zeal which the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has for the procurement, and expressed the hope that when installed, Benue people would get the best from the station. He said the management of Radio Benue under his watch had already extended transmission hours from 9pm to midnight,

One of Radio France International (RFI) Hausa Presenters, Garba Aliyu Zaria has passed on. Aliyu who was the deputy editor of the station passed away on February 5 , 2022 due to short illness after his morning programme yesterday.
