Broadcast Stations may shut down, send SOS to President Buhari as diesel price hits N730

Northern Broadcast Stations are seeking urgent intervention from the Federal Government to support them to continue being on air as diesel price hits rooftop of between N720 and N730 per litre.

Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan the Executive Chairman of Liberty TV and Liberty Radio 103.3 FM Abuja and Chairman Board of Trustee Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association  made the appeal in Abuja on Tuesday, as the prices of petroleum products skyrocket and a crash of the national grid that has led to blackout in most part of the country.

“It is a difficult thing ensuring to continue broadcasting at this time, as diesel has gone up to N720-N750 per litre, ‘’Ramalan said.

“It is getting extremely difficult to be on Air and I don’t know how we are going to cope because 100% per cent of our TV and Radio Stations are running on diesel and there is no light.’’
“It is getting extremely difficult to continue being in business and if nothing is done to be bring back stable Public Power and reduction of Diesel price,  we may have no option than to cut down our Programs and reduction of Staff  as we cannot permanently be running our operations on this high cost of diesel, without electricity.
