📻 The first radio station in Portugal was founded in 1922 and was called Rádio Clube Português (RCP). It was the country's only radio station until 1927 when Rádio Lisboa was founded.

📻 One of the major players in the Portuguese radio market is Rádio Renascença, a national station that has been on the air since 1923 and is known for its news and information programming, as well as its classical music programming.

📻 In the 1930s and 1940s, radio became a popular entertainment medium in Portugal, with the creation of several new stations and the expansion of programming to include music, drama, and sports.

📻 In the 1970s, Portugal's first commercial radio stations were launched, introducing a new model of financing through advertising.

Today, there are over 50 radio stations in Portugal, including public, private, and community stations. Many of these stations can be accessed online through streaming platforms.
